.NET Developer – Logistics, Team Lead | Testimonial by Markus

“For me, leadership is not just delegating, but creating something together.”

My history

I have been a part of Würth Industrie Service for over 25 years – and that with complete satisfaction. My journey began in 1999 with a dual study programme in Business Informatics at Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG. After the course, I was offered a position at Würth Industrie Service – it took just one day to realise: This is where I belong.

In the initial years, I have worked intensively in web design, security and infrastructure. I have been a software developer since 2003 at WIS, and a Team Lead since 2006. My journey was never purely designed for leadership – I always wanted to develop myself. And that is what I can do here: lead and code, together with my team.

My tasks

I am a Team Lead in Software development – but also a developer myself. My team and I implement complex logistics processes in software, for example, the monitoring of automated storage like shuttle systems or high-bay warehouse systems. We handle the part of the inventory management system that is responsible for logistics – working with a high degree of autonomy and technical freedom.

I am especially proud of our own development in KMS (Kanban Management System): one system that we have developed from the scratch – every line of code has come from our team. It’s not only technically exciting but also a true passion project.

My team

What defines my team? Self-sufficiency, trust and a strong sense of togetherness. I place great value on the fact that everyone feels comfortable and can explore his or her potential to the fullest extent. For me, leadership is to create an environment, which helps people to grow – both professionally and personally.

We work together closely, exchange know-how and support each other – in the private sphere as well. his strong sense of ‘we’ is something truly special and has kept many colleagues on board for years.

My highlight

A moment that has remained etched in my memory is: The co-development of our first rapid picking robot. I spent eight week directly in the logistics department – sitting on a beer bench – and observed how our software moves in reality. That was not just technically fascinating, but also emotional: To see something you have programmed coming to life.

Markus is not just a developer, but a facilitator. Together with his team, he’s putting logistics in motion – quite literally. He doesn’t simply build on the existing, but develops something new. A visionary who is also grounded, who doesn’t simply write software, but also lives it.
