I studied physics in Giessen and Zurich and then completed my PhD in theoretical physics. From an early age, I was particularly fascinated by mathematical relationships, logic, and algorithm.
For me, moving into IT was not the conventional path taken via a computer science degree, but rather a transition from a background in mathematics. I developed my programming skills gradually over the years.
Initially, I worked as Software Developer for mobile applications. Simultaneously, I immersed myself in artificial intelligence, gradually deepening my expertise in the field.
I joined Würth Industrie Service in 2024 – in a role that perfectly maps this interface. As Data & AI Engineer, I apply my mathematical mindset to develop solutions that make a tangible difference.
As a Data & AI Engineer, I develop solutions that make business processes more intelligent and more efficient – using AI and mathematical models.
My focus is on technical implementation: from ideation, selection of suitable models to integration into the existing systems – both in frontend and backend.
The biggest challenge is to bring different worlds together. Specialist departments think in terms of processes, while we think in terms of data and models. Striking the right balance in communication while building the best possible technical solution is what makes the work so exciting.
I particularly appreciate the high level of creative freedom and the trust placed in my ability to take ownership and drive things independently. Ideas are openly discussed, collaboratively refined, and implemented through a shared team effort.
What makes our team unique is the diversity of backgrounds of the members – from Data Engineering, AI to physics – and the different perspectives that emerge from it. This diversity is what sets us apart.
We foster a positive team environment, where an open and uncomplicated communication in tandem is encouraged. This mix of different personalities and close collaboration inspires us to develop ideas further and discover new approaches.
My biggest project so far is the AI-supported article transcoding. I had the opportunity to be involved in the project from the very beginning and help shape the solution practically from scratch — from developing the algorithms to the application itself.
The challenging data landscape was what made the project particularly exciting. We had to experiment with many different ideas, occasionally discard them, and then rethink.
With the current rollout, the outcome is a productive solution that delivers real value in everyday work.
