Business Consultant, Microsoft | Testimonial by Lisa

“I provide my colleagues with a comprehensive toolkit and show them how to use it correctly.”

My history

My path to IT was not a conventional one. After graduating from high school, I first started apprenticeship in Wholesale and Foreign Trade Management at Würth Industrie Service. During the orientation, I joined the Digital Business Development and Innovation team, where I was able to get experience in every area. One day, my Team Lead said: We need to do more with Microsoft – and that led to the development of our own team over the course of around three years.

I was never particularly gifted at mathematics or IT-related subjects at school. However, my interest gradually grew as I had the opportunity to implement my first processes during my apprenticeship.

After completing my apprenticeship, I decided to pursue a degree alongside my career in order to deepen my knowledge of what I was doing in practice. I am currently studying Business Informatics full-time while also working 15 hours a week at Würth Industrie Service. My team and my Team Lead have fully supported me throughout this journey.

My tasks

As a Business Consultant in the Microsoft ecosystem, I specialise primarily in Power Automate and SharePoint. I act as a bridge between the technical side and the specialist departments. I serve as a collaborator between both sides and equip employees with the tools they need to succeed. My task is to encourage them to use this toolbox correctly as well.

Every day is different, involving different people, concerns, and processes. The great thing about it is that I can keep using technology in different ways so that it fits a wide variety of processes.

My team

Within our team, and across IT as a whole, we communicate openly and treat each other as equals. People receive support for their concerns from all directions, and other specialist departments are also very helpful. For example, when I have questions about a programming task, I often receive direct support from the developers, which is really great.

At Würth Industrie Service, I have particularly noticed that many people are eager to adopt new technologies and processes from the very beginning. You can also see this in our training sessions and information events – many people are genuinely interested in the topic and then use our support to drive exciting processes forward within their own specialist departments.Even those who are initially sceptical are usually won over once they see how well a process works.

My highlight

It’s difficult for me to name a single highlight, because we constantly have both small and large projects – from converting our intranet and migrating fileservers to the current rollout of a new AI solution across the company.

There are always truly exciting projects where we are given a great deal of responsibility and freedom to make decisions. The great thing is that every day brings something new and there are always genuine moments of success.
