I came to Germany from Finland seven years ago. Initially, I worked different jobs – even in nursing – until it was obvious to me: I need work that does not strain my body while also keeping me enthusiastic in the long term. I had always found IT interesting. Even as a child, I created websites and explored what can be done with computers.
When I found out about the apprenticeship as an IT Specialist for Application Development, I was sure: this is my chance. I made my decision after a trial work day at Würth Industrie Service. The atmosphere was excellent and the work was exciting and diverse. Today I am in my third year of apprenticeship and very satisfied with my decision.
I visit the vocational school once or twice a week. There, I gain general knowledge as well as job-specific expertise. I am currently working in the KMS Logistics department in the company. Here, I implement various technical requirements from the departments, program solutions, optimise processes and test these directly in our Logistics. I work closely with developers and the consulting team in order to find the best solutions. Every month, we plan the integration of new features in the team, and my tasks get more and more challenging with time.
My team is an exciting mix of colleagues from varying backgrounds, which enriches the teamwork and continuous learning. Everyone is helpful, and I can ask questions at any time – whether it’s my trainers or other developers.
What I particularly appreciate: WIS is always in tune with the times. New technology like AI or modern interfaces are not foreign concepts here. This makes the work more exciting and future-oriented.
Aside from that, I am impressed by the professional attitude in the entire company – everything works seamlessly and is well-organised, which is not something I take for granted, as I have gained experience from multiple employers.
For me, it’s the small wins that matter – e.g. when a requirement that was really challenging in the beginning is finally implemented and goes live. This feeling of overcoming the obstacle and seeing how my own work is implemented successfully, is simply wonderful.
