I found information technology and economics interesting in commercial high school itself. Hence, I looked for a degree course that combines both. So, when I came to know about the Business Informatics degree course , I knew that this is the perfect combination for me.
As I wanted to stay in the same region, I checked out the companies in the surrounding area. I already knew about Würth Industrie Service as many of my friends work here. After a trial work day in the KMS and SAP departments, I made my decision: I want to pursue the dual study programme here.
Today, I can say with confidence: The journey was worth it – since graduating, I have been working as an SAP developer in sales environment.
The tasks during my degree course were diverse and gave me an opportunity to keep learning continuously. In the beginning, the focus was on SAP programming: smaller tasks to help in understanding the technique and system. There was a gradual increase in responsibilities with each semester and I took over increasingly complicated tickets.
The projects in second and fourth semesters were particularly interesting. Here, I was able to academically develop a practical task from the company in a structured manner and subsequently implement it. What makes it so special? To be able to see how my own work brings added value in reality.
These experiences have prepared me perfectly for my current job. Now I develop solutions myself that can be implemented in the sales environment.
During my degree course, I was fascinated by how everyone collaborated as equals within the team. My trainers were technically competent while also being approachable and personable. They took time to explain the processes and programming techniques and led me to the more complex tasks step by step.
The interaction with other students and apprentices was excellent as well. We had meals and picnics together often, which strengthened the team spirit. This relationship is still going strong.
My project work was an exciting challenge. Together with the specialist department and Purchase, I implemented a complex topic from conception to the integration into the SAP system. This project is quite close to my heart, and I am very passionate about it because it shows the trust the department has in my capabilities.
Besides, I also like the variety in my tasks: Along with programming, there are multiple consultation meetings with other SAP modules and departments. Hence, coding is not my only task in the entire day.
